Back from Oz!

Good News Kansas City, Kansas, or Kansas City, Missouri, wherever you are, you had a good off season. We are going to lay out the progress you have made here on our little Soccer bloggy here.
Number 1: Well, you lost Eddie Johnson, but you got a good size transfer out of it, and as I recall, you get money on his future transfers too. In our estimation, Eddie had come to the end of his MLS road, at least for now, and needed a new direction. In our opinion, (I would have said "humble opinion" if I could, but, ehh) it was a good deal for the Wizards, and EJ. He gets to move on to Fulham USA in the EPL, and you get cash for the next guy, right?
Number 2: You announced a new Soccer Specific Stadium plan (above). It's part of a $949 Million Dollar project, of which $273 Million will go to this cool new stadium for 18,500 seats. Can I just say for all MLS fans, whew! It sounds like a winner, and we can't wait to see you boys fill it up with new invigorated fans. Now, we can all stop asking when your team will be relocated to St. Louis, or Portland. You can keep your team, and well done! Want to see more of the stadium, click here.
Number 3: You created yourselves a little blog (sample above) on the World Wide InterWeb. Now, this is near and dear to our hearts. We'll keep an eye on it, and see what's doing. See: Hillcrest Road.
Number 4: This is a big one. You signed Claudio Lopez of Argentina to your squad, as your Designated Player! This is huge, he's a player with experience at big clubs all over Europe, and a good amount of National Team experience. This may not be a normal Kansan, but he's going to be a quick fan favorite if history is any guide. Also, having spent some time in Mexico for Club America, he may generate some Hispanic buzz in the back of the house at KC restaurants. You know what I am talking about waiters... check out this YouTube clip of Claudio.

Just want to point out that it's not 273M to the stadium, it's only like 160M to the stadiu. The 273M is the total of city/state financing(basically OnGoal/Lane4 is paying almost 75% of the project). And the stadium pic isn't correct, that was the old plan(from 06). The new pix should be out soon!
